Week 4 Project 1- Reflection

4 pre-final posters+technical drawing

This medicine dispensor is called P&L because it contains two kinds of tablets - Pramipexole Dihydrochloride (90 tablets *1.5mg) and Levodopa (0.25g*100 tablets).
It is specially designed for Parkinson disease’s patients. It helps the patients to take out the medicine easily. The shape is more ergonomic and aesthetic compare to existing medicine packaging. Elderly people feel comfortable and warm when they use it.
Elderly people is the important group in our society, however, a lot of medicine packaging in the market are difficult for them to open and take the tablets especially for the elderly people who have diminished hand strength and hand tremor like Parkinson disease.
My design take these problems into consideration, here are the explanation about P&L:
1. The shape is designed ergonomically to fit people’s hands. The textures on the side can be anti- slipping and tell them to push. Elderly people feel comfortable to grip it.
2. Push- action is better than twisting-action for them. The action requires less hand strength and hands shaking which they have.
3. The inner part is designed to take one pill each action instead of making messy everywhere.
4. Combining two kinds of medicines in one medicine box can reduce the materials.

Feedback from Peers: Olivia said the third poster's renderings are confused for her.
Feedback from Cormack person: the concept is good and he suggest looking at the current market to see the construction inside and how it works. The colour could be different.
Feedback from Tutor Tom: The technical drawing should show the section view for all parts. The size of my mock-up is a bit small and the person who has big hands can not fit in it.  In addition, finding a solution to prevent the inside part not pulling out completely.
